This song is about the spirits that live alongside us, whether in another dimension or in realms we no longer recognize. They are powerful beings with a strong influence on humans. As we fall deeper into a state where we perceive only the material world, we become less and less capable of sensing their presence, sometimes even denying that such a world exists. Yet older traditions across cultures have always integrated the spirit world in one form or another.
Today, however, our beliefs tend to defend a strict realism, an ahrimanic worldview — which makes it harder to find ways of dealing with the challenges around us. Since I’m scientifically trained, I also find science incredibly helpful and clarifying in my thinking. I’m a fan of science, and the combination of being open to the spirit world while appreciating scientific understanding is fascinating to me. Many psychological and educational approaches resemble those found in shamanism and other spiritual teachings.
In any case, the song is partly about spirits that try to blind us to their world in order to gain greater influence over our lives. It’s also about the four elemental spirits of the earth, water, fire, earth, and wind, which I describe as I perceive them, in a poetic and condensed way.
Have fun listening! The song is, in its own way, instrumental, very dynamic, with shifting melodic expressions.
Lyrics:
Green and dark is the home of your spirit
That draws countless souls to the depths of despair
Forgotten for so long, laughed at and disgraced,
Yet you have the time of your life as you watch us slowly fall
Bright and fierce are the words that you speak
Invisible dreams linger in the heat
Until you somehow ignite the soul
Dreams come to flourish with glory and grace at your pace
But now the blindness starts to fade
As light pours into you and me
The wisdom long forgotten fills
What we have lost and couldn’t see
I feel my life has come to change
As I recall what we used to feel
And time is passing by my name
I remember what we used to be
No one can see the flow of your time
You become what they’ll show you to find
You carry the feelings of a million beings
Invisible healing as long as we listen to your flow
You carry the bones of both past and the future
The angels and demons, the spirits of earth
In all four directions, the free and the bound
To your sacred ground, Mother Earth, we walk tall
But now the blindness starts to fade
As light pours into you and me
The wisdom long forgotten fills
what we have lost and could not see
I feel my life has come to change
As I recall what we used to feel
Time is passing by my name
I remember what we used to be
