IN THE MIDDLE – Glimmer and Fold

This is a special song for us in several ways.

First, it’s probably Maria’s most personal song to date — just read the lyrics below, they speak for themselves.

Second, it’s the first track on which Maria plays bass, something she’s always wanted to do. So she got herself a beautiful Höfner bass — what else? We don’t have a proper bass amp yet, but the old Vox AC30 actually works surprisingly well for it.

And finally, this is the first Glimmer and Fold song that wasn’t mixed by Nick. The track was mixed by Victor Zawacki, who gave it that beautiful warm, full sound that clearly marks it as an indie-folk piece — despite its strong jazz influences. That’s exactly how the song was supposed to sound. Thanks so much, Victor, for your amazing work!
