“Flying Objects” is one of those rare songs that has lived with us for almost our entire musical journey together. We wrote it about 15 years ago, right around the time we slowly started making music again after the birth of our first child. Life had changed completely, and picking up instruments again felt both exciting and a little daunting.
This track emerged during that gentle re-awakening. A burst of creativity that captured the strange, beautiful disorientation of those early years.
Before the UFO topic became more mainstream, I had already developed a strong interest in it. Back then, neither Joe Rogan nor Jesse Michels’ American Alchemy was around yet it was all just pure speculation in my head, which I really enjoyed. Around that time, I was also reading Graham Hancock, which deepened my fascination with alternative ideas and unexplained phenomena. That curiosity is what inspired the title and lyrics for “FlYing Objects”.
I started watching Joe Rogan right at the beginning in 2009, and I really connected with his open, boundary-free way of thinking. I still feel very much the same: curious, but grounded, and always with a sense of playfulness when it comes to big, wild ideas like aliens.
Musically, it perfectly matches that feeling: energetic indie rock with an alternative edge, carrying an uplifting and happy momentum that makes you want to move and dream at the same time.
For over a decade, we lived with the original rough demo, recorded simply with the built-in microphone of an old iMac. We always believed it was a special track and kept saying we’d do a proper recording one day. About five years ago we finally captured a “real” version and even released it, but something didn’t feel quite right. After living with the song for so long, every new take somehow couldn’t fully capture the magic we heard in our heads. So we recorded and mixed it two or three more times, still chasing that elusive perfect version.
This time, it finally clicked. We’re incredibly happy that we kept going, because this recording truly does the song justice. It feels alive, soaring, and exactly like the flying experience the lyrics describe.
We hope “Flying Objects” gives you that same sense of weightless joy and wide-eyed wonder, whether you’re navigating the chaos of new parenthood, rediscovering your creative spark, or simply letting yourself dream through the sky and the sea.
Lyrics:
You said
Follow the green distraction
Hollow, a black contraction
“Feels like you seem to know”
Blue skies
Turn into waves of starlights
The weaver of golden dreamlights
It turns into something new
So you start flying
High
Below, beneath, above
Deep seas
Black with a glowing fish light
Neon and flurry dream heights
You are awake to see
So you are flying
High
Below the sea
And I am dreaming
Through
The space and sea
Here we fly
Through the sky
Touching seas
Touching skies
