PONY

Pony appeared to me as the image of a woman fleeing from her invaded village in the 19th century — a Native woman, brave and steadfast, who had witnessed immense destruction.

She is also a metaphor: a woman who struggled and escaped from the hands of the devil, after he had destroyed everything within her through the cruelty of human beings.
Many lights had been murdered — stolen from the earthly plane — and yet, as she flees toward a new destiny and a new life, she carries nothing to hold on to except her faith in a future that might allow a new light to grow.

Through the love and wisdom she carries, she seeks to nurture that light — to keep alive the sacred way of life, despite all the devastation she has endured.

It is also the story of the mother of the wonderful boy she will one day give birth to — the child I write about in Golden Sea.

She is the mother of this unbelievably strong, kind, and wise warrior who is yet to come — the embodiment of hope, renewal, and the sacred continuation of life.

Lyrics:

Pony, ride! Pony, ride!
The desert sun keeps shadows bright
Through the day haunting nights
Keep the mountains in your sight

Flee to free burning hearts
That are staggering without love
Honey feel, honey seal
What the devil keeps to steal

Honey, ride! Honey, ride!
We are out of sight
Honey, ride! Honey, ride!
We still hold the light

Pony, ride! Pony, ride!
In the height of starry nights
Calming sense free the sight
The fire is burning all their pride

What we’ve lost we’ll regain
It’s the circle’s oldest game
By the stream holy scene
Pony, we will feel to heal

Honey, ride! Honey, ride!
We’re out of sight
Honey, ride! Honey, ride!
We still hold the light
